VII. THE BORDER

Subject: A fence was voted on in Congress but somewhere along the way the funding was delayed or a lawsuit was filed or maybe the legislators just thought we would forget about it and go merrily on our way to something else. Well we haven't forgotten and we know who to blame.

PLAN: Not only should we finish the fence between Mexico and the U.S. but vastly increase the number of Border Patrol officers. In the most hostile areas, Border Patrol should be armed with the same or larger weapons than the intruders they face each day. There is no secret that there have been foreign incursions of military or police or people dressed as police or Mexican military north of the border and have exchanged gun fire with our Border Patrol Officers. Between the drugs, the criminals and the possible terrorist, something will have to be done. The people already here will have to register and tell us their intentions and receive a work permit card. Each year they will have to renew that card. Those seeking citizenship will be required to follow all the rules leading to citizenship. When an illegal alien is stopped by the police for any reason and they are found to be illegal, they will have to be detained until trial. The record is full of suspects simply disappearing after release. Some sort of speedy trial could be set up to help the rest of the overburdened courts. When an illegal alien is found guilty and sentenced to prison or detainment of any kind, when their time is served, they must be reported to the proper authorities for deportation. If they are caught entering the country again, a mandatory sentence must be levied. There are many U.S. citizens who feel the illegal aliens already here have already broken our laws and should be deported, but the simple logistics of such a move would be so expensive it is just not possible. If there are only ten million illegals in the U.S. and it only cost a thousand dollars to deport each one of them, their family and all of their possessions back to their country of origin that would be $10 BILLION. More illegals or a higher cost to deport them would simply be too expensive. It is also time for a National Identification Card to be used in voting and anything else requiring a picture and a finger print. The ramifications of not having one are over shadowed by all other concerns.
