Subject: Former Vice President Al Gore has called the internal combustion engine, "the worst invention ever". Can you imagine what our world would be like without the invention of the internal combustion engine? In your mind, can you see a Florida family traveling to the Grand Canyon in a horse and buggy? For decades, we have all been promised, by every political campaign to free ourselves from "dependence on foreign oil". How many new oil rigs do we see off our shores? NONE. How many Nuclear Power plants are under construction? NONE. There are only five electrical grids across the whole United States. Is it then no wonder we have "brown outs and black outs"?
PLAN: We should drill for our own oil in every place but our National Parks. We should de-commission the Northern most 2000 acres of the Alaskan Natural Wildlife Reserve and drill for that oil, especially since it is so close to the Alaskan Pipeline. With the technology we have today the human footprint around an oil rig is very small. We should build a row of Nuclear Power plants from Eastern Colorado all the way to Missouri. We should expand our Electrical Grids from 5 to 15. In the event one grid goes down, the three around it would come on line and fill that void and the delay would be minimal. We should have power plants on stand by alert that could go on line at a moments notice. Our transmission lines from state to state are the weakest link in the energy chain. They should be under ground as much as possible and where this is impossible, the foliage and trees should be trimmed and removed to prevent interruption. The construction companies who bid and receive these contracts will use American equipment and American supplies and labor to construct these improvements; (no Kubota Tractors pulled by a Volvo Truck using plastic pipe from China and installed by illegal aliens). The unfortunate people in the Northeast part of the U.S. who use Heating Oil to heat their homes must switch over to natural gas furnaces. The ones who can not afford the conversion will have to be subsidized by the rest of us. The bottom line is this, we need to use Petroleum for transportation only, electricity to light and cool our homes, natural gas or propane to heat our homes. Plastics, nylon and other products are made from the oil not used to make gasoline and diesel. Every time a special interest group files a lawsuit to stop projects such as these, the Federal Government should join the suit as an interested partner on the side of the defendant and ask for fast tracking to the Supreme Court. With the considerable weight of the Government behind the construction projects, the delays should be minimal. When new technology makes it feasible to have electric cars or Hydrogen fuel we will all rejoice, but until then, we need gasoline and diesel fuel.
